James is one of my awesome postgrad students doing cool research into the integration of native vegetation into dryland agricultural landscapes, with birds, livestock, the land and humans all benefitting. Take a look and cast your vote!

I was so fortunate to be part of the inspiring Shepherdess magazine this winter. It’s such a beautiful publication - beautiful photography, writing and stories! Wonderful opportunity to share a little bit about our research.

Super fortunate and grateful to have been a part of Our Land and Water over the past year. I’m looking forward to heading into the final month of this project and to see everything come together, as well as sharing the findings far and wide!

So great being part of this years Tuia Pito Ora | The New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects conference in Nelson. “Lincoln University's Shannon Davis talked about understanding the potential of the peri-urban to re-connect New Zealanders with whenua and food”

I’m so excited and grateful to be able to do this research with the support of Our Land and Water. Watch this space as our team at LU (Richard Morris, Guanyu (Hanley) Chen, Naomi Darvill, Isobel Happy, Prof. Pablo Gregorini) gets to work looking at the spatial potential of the peri-urban zone for integrating people and food landscapes.

Last week I was interviewed by Mark Leishman regarding the research I am doing with the Centre of Excellence: Designing Future Productive Landscapes, looking at the re-integration of food production back into our cities as an essential component of urban design.

Awesome to be included in this panel today as part of LUs Sustainability Week activities. Heaps of great research being done looking at the nexus of housing availability and productive landscapes within the peri-urban zones of Aotearoa.

Back in May we were fortunate to host the Canterbury Mayoral Forum for a workshop looking at the ‘Peri-urban conundrum’ - asking how do we want our cities and settlements to expand while protecting and enhancing our productive food producing landscapes. A great event hosted by the Center of Excellence: Designing Future Productive Landscapes supported by Stuart Charters, Guanyu (Hanley) Chen, Richard Morris, Marcus Robinson and Prof. Pablo Gregorini
