One of the Most loved Apple recipe in this blog: Sheet Pan Harvest Baked Apple Chicken with Sweet Potatoes

I love making Jam at home.

In fact, this is one of my first recipes, which I used to make when I needed to make lunch for my kids.

I hardly bought Jam from stores, especially when my kids were young. Store-Bought Jam is filled with sugar and is totally bad for your health.

You should avoid it as much as you can. You might think that making Jam at home is too long and tedious.

But, trust me homemade Jam is the best. It is not only delicious but so easy...

Homemade Apple Jam is devoid of preservatives, extra added sugar and is really easy to make.

I like to make fresh jams every often and trust me after reading this recipe you too would want to make your own Apple Jam.

I know most people think that nobody has that kind of time to make homemade Jams.

However, you can make it in your slow cooker as well and save a ton of time.

Apple jam recipe with honey

We avoid sugar as much as possible. Sugar replacements are so useful and so healthy. I have a sweet tooth and here are my favorite No Sugar Desserts.

So, if you are looking for an Apple Jam recipe with no sugar then this is it.

I personally, don't like to use sugar for Apple Jam because Apple is anyway quite sweet and I can't tolerate so much sweetness.

In my house, we love to have Jam with our Brioche or Toast. Especially during the summers and fall, we love Jam.

Apple jam recipe without sugar

This Cinnamon Spiced Apple Jam has a sweet Apple flavor to it which is spiced with the ground cinnamon.

The combination of Apple and Cinnamon is simply fantastic!

It's delicious, it's warm, it's cozy and it's totally something that you want to give yourself when the leaves turn crisp and the weather turns cool for the fall🍂

In my opinion honey works like a charm. It caramelizes the apples and brings out a fruity sweetness which is just so damn tasty.😋

HINT: Squeeze in one lemon 🍋 and it'll illuminate the flavors even more.

This Apple Jam takes about 30 minutes to get prepared. Apple Jams cook really quickly. This is because of the natural sweetness of apples and low water content.

What is the best apples for jam?

I like to use fuji Apples for my Jam.

They are a little crunchy on the outside but juicy on the inside. You can use any apples you have but the cooking time will vary depending upon the sugar content and water content of the apples.

How to Store Apple Jelly?

To store the Jam you can store them or use a water bath so that they can stay fresh for a long time.

However, since I make small batches, I don't use water baths.

A clean jar always makes sure that your Jam stays fresh for a long time.

Also, the sealing rings should be perfectly fitting.

It is very important that you store the hot jam in the jars and cover with the lid.

Also, you will hear a pop sound which means that the lid of the jars is sealed.

Allow the jams to stay on the counter for 10-12 hours before you keep them in a cool and dry place.

The cinnamon spice helps keep your Jam fresh. I have not used Pectin for my Jam. Nor have I used any water bath. You can use it if you wish to.

Apple jam ingredients

How to Make Apple Jam in the Crockpot

Old Fashioned Apple Jam Recipe For Canning - RecipeMagik (4)
  • Take a Pan and melt the butter. Add honey. Whisk until combined and the mixture turns light amber color. Once the color changes pour 1 cup water in it. Once the water comes to a boil, remove from heat.
  • Add chopped Apples and Ground Cinnamon in the Crockpot. Toss to combine. Pour the honey and butter mixture over it.
  • Cover with a glass lid. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. Keep stirring every 30 minutes to 1 hour to avoid anything getting stuck to the sides and bottom of the pot and burning.
  • Cook uncovered for 30 min on High. Cooking uncovered will evaporate all the water. You can blend the apples using an immersion blender however, I never use it. I like it just as it is a bit chunky.
  • Take the hot jam out and cool it down to room temp. Transfer in an airtight jar. Cover with the lid. Keep on the counter for 10-12 hours. Then keep in a cool and dry place.

What's the difference between applesauce and apple jam?

Both are quite different. Apple Jam is thick. Applesauce is runny. Applesauce can be used for baking. See this recipe -

Apple Jam is an accompaniment for toast, brioche rolls, cinnamon rolls and etc.

Apple Jam is much sweeter than applesauce.

What's the difference between apple jam and apple jelly? ›

Apple jelly—actually, any jelly—is made from fruit juice, instead of whole fruits like we use when making jam. Minus that change, the process is pretty similar to other jam recipes—easy peasy!

Will jam set without pectin? ›

Making jam without pectin is easy, you just have to cook it longer. This recipe produces a very thick, rich tasting jam, but if you like your jam a bit looser, cook it 5 minutes less than the suggested cooking time.

What liquid preserves apples best? ›

Use cold 40 percent syrup (3¼ cups sugar to 5 cups water). To prevent browning, add ½ teaspoon (1,500 milligrams) of ascorbic acid to each quart of syrup. Slice apples directly into syrup in container starting with ½ cup of syrup in a pint container. Press fruit down in container and add enough syrup to cover.

Which part of apple has most pectin? ›

Of all apple varieties, the humble Granny Smith contains the most PECTIN or fibre (most of which is found in the peel) and other important PREBIOTICS, including polyphenols.

Pectin, naturally found in fruit is vital to make your jam set. With low-pectin fruits like strawberries, help them along by either mixing with pectin-rich fruit like gooseberries or by using jam sugar (with added pectin and citric acid).

How runny should jam be before canning? ›

1) The Saucer Test

Once you think that your jam has reached its setting point or has thickened, spoon a bit of the jam on the cold plate and tilt it vertically so the jam runs. You are aiming for a slow descent, not a runny mess. If it runs slow, it's set!

Lemon is crucial to balancing those sweet flavors, but it also helps the pectin to firm up the jam. It can be added at the start of the cooking process or towards the end, but what must be taken into account is that adding liquids to the jam mixture will inevitably require the jam to cook for longer.

In the United States, early New England settlers preserved fruits with honey, molasses or maple sugar. In those days, pectin (the substance that puts the “jell” in jelly) was made from apple parings.

Green apples are best for this recipe. As an apple ripens, its pectin is broken down. This means that the riper your apples, the less pectin you'll have in your final product.

What apples are the best for canning? ›

The best varieties for canning apples are crisp, not mealy, types. Some of the best apples for canning include Fuji, Braeburn, Jonagold, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady, Jazz, Honeycrisp, and Cortland.
