On Wednesday, the legendary Canadian rocker said that he and his band Crazy Horse’s Love Earth Tour had stopped after some members got sick after performing at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Detroit on May 22.

“The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far. Great audiences and music. We have had a blast,” Young wrote.

“When a couple of us got sick after Detroit’s Pine Knob, we had to stop.”

Young and the band postponed three remaining U.S. concerts (in Chicago, Austin and Dallas).

Wednesday’s notice refers to the second leg of the tour that was set to start on July 8 in Toronto.

“We are not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break,” said the 78-year-old. “We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again. We know many of you have made travel plans and we apologize for the inconvenience.

“Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is number one. We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you…and for us. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse…Neil, Micah, Ralph and Billy.” Billy Talbot (bass) and Ralph Molina (drums) are original Crazy Horse members and both in their early 80s.

Crazy Horse had 15 gigs in the second leg of the tour, including on July 22 and 23 at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby. The last concert was set for the Hollywood Bowl in L.A. on Sept. 29. Young is married to actress Daryl Hannah.

Ticketmaster is reporting all but the band’s last three concerts in California as cancelled. People who have purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will be refunded.
