3-Ingredient Key Lime Popsicles Recipe Highlights
Finally, It’s the time of the year when eating popsicles every day is acceptable!
My kids LOVE frosty treats, so I’m a big fan of keeping homemade popsicles around the house to help beat the heat when the temps outside are boiling. You just can’t beat the homemade flavor. Plus, making my own popsicles means I personally know what is into them. I can control the ingredients and the amount of sugar. The hardest part is waiting for them to get frozen. Are they frozen yet?
These Easy 3-Ingredient Key Lime Popsicles are delicious and sooo easy to make!!
If you’re a fan of citrusy flavors, then you have to try these. They’re refreshing, sweet, and slightly tangy and have a perfect balance of flavors. Either you consider these a dessert or a little snack, these Easy Key Lime Popsicles will put an end to your sweet tooth’s rebellion.
They are so damn good.
Healthy Popsicles for Kids
I figured if we were going to enjoy LOTS of popsicles all summer long, I wanted to make them healthy for my kiddos, so I substituted the traditional heavy cream for non-fat Greek yogurt, which also adds some protein. I was afraid they would turn icier than creamy, but not at all. They were PERFECT!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Amounts are included in the printable recipe below (scroll down).
And they come together with only three ingredients. These have to be the easiest popsicles I’ve made yet.
- Store-bought limeade: I like to use Simply Limeade® but you can use your favorite brand or even make your own using Nellie and Joe’s 100% Key Lime Juice.
- Sweetened condensed milk: This will add sweetness and creaminess to your popsicles. I recommend using the full-fat version.
- Vanilla Greek yogurt: You can also use plain greek yogurt is that what you have handy. For creamy popsicles I recommend using the whole milk version (full-fat).
- Lime zest: This is optional but I recommend adding it if possible. It adds a extra punch of lime flavor.
How to Make Key Lime Popsicles Step By Step
Please check the recipe card at the bottom of the post for exact quantities and detailed instructions(scroll down).
- Combine all ingredients together in a large measuring or a mixing bowl, preferably one with a pour spout. Whisk until well combined and smooth.
- Pour the mixture into your popsicle molds and insert the popsicle sticks.
- Freeze for about 5 – 6 hours or overnight (best).
Tip for Success
Creamy consistency. The whole milk Greek yogurt helps make them super smooth and creamy.
Unmold. Make sure they are frozen hard before you try to unmold them. Overnight freezing is the safest bet. To unmold, turn the popsicle molds sideways and run them under warm water for 5 -15 seconds. Then, slowly and carefully remove each popsicle. If the popsicles are stuck in the mold, run them under the warm water for a few more seconds; make sure you don’t melt the pops.
My Favorite Popsicle Molds
There are lots of popsicle mold options on the market right now. Basically, I use two types. The one you see in the photos with the Aluminum covering, which holds popsicle sticks up straight perfectly. A recent favorite of mine is this Silicone Frozen Ice Popsicle Maker.
Removing Popsicles From Molds
To unmold, turn the popsicle molds sideways and run them under warm water for 5 -15 seconds. Then, slowly and carefully remove each popsicle. If the popsicles are stuck in the mold, run them under the warm water for a few more seconds; make sure you don’t melt the pops.
Make Popsicles Without a Mold
To make popsicles without a mold, you can use a muffin tin. To do so, simply tightly wrap the top of the mold with aluminum foil (trying to prevent the foil from touching the popsicle mixture). Then poke your popsicle sticks through the foil, and they will stand upright!
